The first thing to start the process of choosing a cigar humidor, asking yourself some of these things:

* Does the individual have a preference for the type of material the humidor is constructed from (i.e. metal, plastic, Lucite)?
* How many cigars will the humidor need to store?

There are different considerations that should be kept in mind when it comes to choosing a humidor. First, you have to decide how much room you need for your cigars. The ideal number should then be doubled. For example, let’s say someone would like for the humidor to keep 200, then you could buy a humidor that is capable of holding 50. The next step in this process will be for an individual to familiarize themselves with the different models and styles that are available on the market. Humidors are available for purchase from a wide variety of locations, from tobacco stores to upscale department stores. Therefore, an individual should not limit their search to one or two locations.
After a person has familiarized themselves with the different models of humidors, the next step of how to choose a humidor is to begin to narrow down their selection. The location of the humidor will determine the type of model that someone needs to purchase. The humidor will also need to match the style or decor of the room it is to be placed in. For example, if the decor of a room displays an element of wood, then a humidor that is created from mahogany would be ideal.
Once the style and the model of the humidor has been chosen, the seal, the liner, and the warranty of the humidor must all be considered. It is imperative that the seal of the humidor be totally airtight. Otherwise, it becomes highly difficult for the humidifier to regulate the temperature of the humidor. In most humidors that are constructed with quality, the liner will be created from Spanish cedar.Finally, the warranty is, arguably, the most important component to consider when educating yourself how to choose a humidor. As a general rule of thumb, the more confident a manufacturer is in the product they produce, the more encompassing and lengthier the warranty will be.
